Industries across platforms
5 of 24 industries can be compared across platforms: those where jobs.ch and jobscout24.ch each have one native category that matches the industry exactly. arbeit.swiss has no industry filter, so its value is aggregated from the occupation code on each posting. The other 19 industries are merged, split or missing on at least one platform. They are listed per platform on the dataset page, and those with enough tracked job titles can be picked below for a job-title view.

How to read these numbers
What is counted: job postings that are online on jobs.ch, arbeit.swiss and jobscout24.ch on the snapshot date. Each platform reports its own number and we publish it as reported. Postings are not vacancies and not hires.
Geographic scope: the counts are Switzerland-wide. Job-title search terms are German, which is what ties this page to German-speaking Switzerland; platform totals and industry counts include postings in every language. No canton filter is applied.
Examples, 2026-09-22: Fachfrau Gesundheit EFZ: jobs.ch 937, arbeit.swiss 2,259, jobscout24.ch 708; Servicetechniker: jobs.ch 686, arbeit.swiss 709, jobscout24.ch 1,657; Chauffeur: jobs.ch 438, arbeit.swiss 549, jobscout24.ch 507. These three titles pass the title check on every platform.
Compare shares, not sizes. The platforms list different things. arbeit.swiss is the public employment service and includes vacancies that employers must report by law, so it is larger and its mix differs from the commercial boards. Absolute counts are shown per platform and never summed; the industry mix (shares) is the part that can be compared.
Not every posting has an industry. Share of each platform's postings that carry the tag we count: jobs.ch 83%, arbeit.swiss 98%, jobscout24.ch 33%. Industry counts on a platform with low coverage are lower than the true figure by about that factor.
Open postings by job title
Each number is what a platform returns when you search for the job title, Switzerland-wide. Search engines differ: some match the title only, some match the whole posting or related terms. So every count is checked per platform by sampling the result titles (see title checks). A count is drawn solid when at least 70% of sampled titles contain the term, faded from 30 to 69%, and left out under 30%. Titles are grouped by industry for navigation; the group is not a measurement of the industry.

How job-title counts are checked
A search for Koch should count postings for cooks. On some platforms it also returns postings that mention the word anywhere, or that the search engine considers related. To see how much of a count is the job title itself, we sample the result titles on each platform and measure the share that contains the term.
Method. For each job title and platform we read up to 100 result titles from the top of the platform's search, skipping paid placements. Titles are normalised for case, umlauts, gendered forms (Koch, Köchin) and qualification suffixes (EFZ, HF, dipl.). A result counts as a match when its title contains every word of the term. For titles with more than 300 results we take a second sample deeper in the result list (from position 500), where loosely related results collect; the lower of the two shares is the score.
Rule, per platform and title. 70% or more: verified, drawn solid. 30% to 69%: broad match, drawn faded. Under 30%: excluded, not drawn, shown struck through in the tables. A job title is tracked if at least one platform verified it, which is why a title can be solid on one platform and missing on another.

Limits. The match is strict about words and lenient about compounds: Koch also matches Chefkoch, which is intended, and a short stem such as Wirt also matches Betriebswirt, which is not. Short stems are due to be replaced in the next taxonomy version. The check measures whether the title contains the term, so a posting titled Pflegefachperson does not count for Pflegefachfrau although it is the same job; scores are a lower bound. "Not sampled" means the platform returned no organic results to sample. Samples are not yet refreshed weekly.
Why the list is short. An earlier candidate list of 288 job titles was tested the same way. On jobs.ch the median candidate matched 11% of the titles returned for it (Software Developer: 2 of 100), on arbeit.swiss 29%. That list was discarded and rebuilt from the titles that passed on at least one platform. Several industries, ICT among them, therefore have very few tracked titles for now.

Methodology
- What is measured: the stock of job postings online on a platform on the snapshot date. It is not the number of new postings that week, not vacancies and not hires.
- Counts are the platform's own. We read the total each platform reports for a filter or search and publish it unchanged. We do not download and count the postings.
- Platforms are never summed. The same position is often on several platforms, so a combined total would double-count. Absolute counts differ with platform size and content; shares within a platform are what can be compared.
- arbeit.swiss is the public employment service. Under the Swiss Stellenmeldepflicht, employers must report vacancies in occupations with above-average unemployment, so its mix of occupations differs from commercial boards. It is not a measure of market share.
- Industries: jobs.ch and jobscout24.ch counts come from the platform's own industry filter. arbeit.swiss has no industry filter; its industry values are aggregated from the occupation code on each posting. The mapping for every industry and platform is on the dataset page. A series never mixes the two methods.
- Job titles are a curated list of German-language Swiss job titles, kept only if they passed the title check on at least one platform. The list is frozen per taxonomy version; a change starts a new version and a new series, and old versions are never joined onto the current one.
- Timing: one snapshot per week, taken on Tuesday (UTC). Posting volume has a weekday cycle, so a fixed weekday keeps weeks comparable. Runs on other weekdays are stored as calibration data and excluded from every chart and total here.
- Missed weeks stay empty. Platforms only show what is online now, so a missed Tuesday cannot be collected later. It appears as a gap, never as an estimate or a value from another day.
- Plausibility checks: every run is compared with the platform's unfiltered total, with the other platforms and with its own recent level. A failed fetch or an impossible value is rejected. A value that moves more than 40% against the median of its recent readings is held back, and published only if the next daily reading confirms the new level within 20%. Changes of more than 3x are reviewed by hand. Anything withheld that affects this page is listed in the data notes.
- Revision policy: published figures are not edited silently. Every correction, gap and method change is a dated entry in the data notes.

Status: preview. This page is kept out of search engines until four Tuesday snapshots in a row exist. Current run: 3 of 4. Pages for the French and Italian language regions follow after that.
Data notes
- 2026-09-30 No snapshot for Tuesday 2026-09-29. The collection job could not reach our database and stopped before querying any platform. The platforms only expose live totals, so that week cannot be reconstructed and stays a gap in every series. A Wednesday run (2026-09-30) exists as calibration data and is not part of the series.
- 2026-09-30 Title checks are now per platform. Until now a job title carried one badge, the best score across platforms, and jobscout24.ch had never been sampled. Every platform is now sampled and scored separately. Counts whose title-match share is under 30% on a platform are no longer plotted for that platform; the raw value stays in the tables and downloads, marked as excluded.
- 2026-09-30 Comparable industries reduced from 6 to 5. Agriculture was removed because the jobs.ch category also contains forestry and timber. The interactive charts and the dropdown now use one industry list; before, the bar chart and the other two charts showed different sets.
- 2026-09-30 One method per series. Industry series no longer switch between a platform's own industry filter and values derived from occupation codes. jobscout24.ch industry series therefore start on 2026-09-15, when its native filter was added. Earlier charts showed an occupation-derived value for 2026-09-08 on the same line.
- 2026-09-30 Correction: jobs.ch Energy and Utilities, 2026-09-15. The stored value of 3,843 is withdrawn. The same category read 598 on 2026-09-22 and 539 on 2026-09-30, and the same fault in the platform's category counter was documented for 2026-09-08. The value was never plotted; it is now also removed from the downloads.
- 2026-09-30 Correction: jobscout24.ch Healthcare. The series now uses the platform's own industry filter, like every other jobscout24.ch industry. A plausibility rule had rejected those readings because healthcare is more than 30% of the platform's tagged postings. The rule now compares against the platform's unfiltered total. The published numbers do not change: the occupation-derived reading shown before was identical.
- 2026-09-30 Plausibility checks changed. A reading that moves more than 40% against its recent level is no longer rejected outright. It is held and published only after the next daily reading confirms the new level. Changes of more than 3x need a manual review. Small counts (under 50 postings, or a change of under 30 postings) are exempt, because one employer can move them.
