Fortune 500 ATS Market Share 2026: Workday Runs 118 of the F500
We audited every Fortune 500 company's careers page in August-September 2026 to find out which Applicant Tracking System (ATS) they actually use. Workday leads by a wide margin with 118 deployments (23.6% of the F500). 136 companies build custom careers pages with no commercial ATS, and 21 other platforms account for the remaining 238. This post shares the full breakdown, per-industry cuts, and the CSV so you can rerun our analysis.

- Workday: 118 companies (23.6%). The clear enterprise leader. If you sell into or scrape F500 hiring data, Workday integration should be your first priority.
- Custom (in-house) careers pages: 136 companies (27.2%). The single largest ATS bucket after Workday - Amazon, Walmart, Apple, Alphabet, Microsoft, Berkshire Hathaway all build their own.
- Phenom: 41 companies (8.2%). Dominant in retail and healthcare - CVS Health, McDonald's, Humana, HCA, Procter & Gamble.
- Oracle Recruiting Cloud: 32 companies (6.4%). Big-bank and grocery favorite - JPMorgan Chase, Kroger, Dell, Albertsons, American Express.
- iCIMS: 31 companies (6.2%). Insurance-heavy - State Farm, Dollar General, Northwestern Mutual, Discover.
- SAP SuccessFactors: 28 companies (5.6%). Airlines and manufacturers, but many deployments are WAF-hardened and hostile to scraping.
- TalentBrew: 22 companies (4.4%). TMP Worldwide's platform - McKesson, Ford Motor, Chevron, Coca-Cola.
- Eightfold: 16 companies (3.2%). Growing AI-native platform with SSR-friendly JSON.

Notable trends
Workday is bigger than any two competitors combined.
Workday's 118 F500 deployments equal Phenom + Oracle Recruiting + iCIMS + SuccessFactors + TalentBrew put together. Enterprise consolidation continues; Workday's TAM in the F500 is essentially fully addressed.
'Custom' is now the second-largest bucket.
136 F500 companies (27.2%) run careers pages that don't match any commercial ATS signature - a mix of custom microsites (Amazon, Walmart), hand-built HR portals (Apple, Berkshire subsidiaries), and headless-CMS driven pages. This bucket is larger than Phenom + Oracle Recruiting + iCIMS combined and grew from ~103 in our May 2026 baseline to 136 by September - some of that is us reclassifying 'pending' rows correctly, some is real migration away from off-the-shelf ATS.
AI-native platforms are still niche but growing.
Eightfold (16 F500) and Paradox (15 F500) are the visible AI-native footholds. Both are small in absolute terms but concentrated in innovator-tier employers (NYL, Freddie Mac, McDonald's franchise operations). Watch this bucket.
Taleo classic is a graveyard.
Oracle's Taleo has 3 modern-API deployments plus 5 classic-FTL deployments that require legacy browser sessions to scrape. Most of the classic-FTL companies have migration projects underway (Valero, D.R. Horton, NVR remain on classic as of our audit). Expect this number to keep shrinking as Workday/Phenom eat the migrations.
Methodology
- Population: the 500 companies on the current Fortune 500 list (published annually by Fortune magazine).
- Detection pass 1 (URL-pattern match): for each company, resolve its public careers page URL. Match against known ATS-hosted domains (jobs.lever.co, boards.greenhouse.io, *.wd*.myworkdayjobs.com, jobs.cvshealth.com → Phenom, etc.).
- Detection pass 2 (HTML signature): for careers pages that don't match a known domain, fetch the HTML and search for ATS-specific markers (script/CSS URLs, DOM structure, JSON-LD signatures).
- Detection pass 3 (LLM confirmation): for the remaining ambiguous rows, run the NanoScrape Website Job Extractor with
skipAtsExtraction: true. It auto-crawls the careers page and emits anats_systemfield when a supported platform is detected. - Manual verification: spot-checked 50 randomly-sampled rows against public careers pages in a browser.
- Excluded from the platform-share stats: 11 companies whose deployments are permanently blocked by hardened WAF or conversational-AI-only portals (Delta Airlines, Progressive, SAIC, and 8 more). These are classified as 'custom build required' in our downstream tier assignment but are not counted as a specific ATS.

FAQ
How does this compare to the Ongig ATS market share report?
Ongig publishes an annual ATS market share report using different methodology (job-posting-share instead of company-share) and their own detection heuristics. Our results align on the top three (Workday, iCIMS, Phenom in Ongig's 2025 list; Workday, Custom, Phenom in ours) but the absolute numbers differ because we separate 'custom in-house' as its own bucket rather than lumping into 'other'.
Why is 'custom (in-house)' so large - is that a detection failure?
No. Companies like Amazon, Walmart, Apple, Berkshire Hathaway, and Microsoft demonstrably run their own careers infrastructure with URLs that don't match any known ATS pattern. We verified a sample of 20 'custom' companies manually - all are actually custom builds, not misclassifications.
How often is the data updated?
We rerun the audit monthly and version the CSV in our public repo. ATS migrations tend to be announced at the start of quarters, so we do a deeper pass every January and July.
Can I use this data commercially?
Yes - the CSV is CC BY 4.0 licensed. You can use it commercially, remix it, republish it. Just attribute NanoScrape and link back to nanoscrape.com/tutorials/scrape-fortune-500-company-jobs/.
